Re: [DIYbio] La Jolla library opens biotech lab

Fantastic! Great work. We are in a backwater called LA and haven't had the interest by large labs, so no advice based on experience. To complete some experiments sometimes requires extremely expensive equipment such as super hi end microscopes. If you could arrange to use those at times they are not being used, it would be useful. Expired reagents or partially used ones would be something they may be willing to donate. Ask if they are willing to teach cutting edge seminars or coach an IGEM team.

We've opened a mini educational biotech lab at the La Jolla Library

The Mayor of San Diego and the local Congressman (Scott Peters) spoke at our opening.  And we are getting support from the Salk Institute and other large organizations are starting to contact me. I believe this will help us all to gain the support and visibility we need for our movement. If you have thoughts to share, about how to manage this interest from large labs, I'm happy to take suggestions.
Thanks,
Cameron
