That sounds a lot like the argument that wikipedia can't possibly be
better than a "professional" encyclopedia...

In my personal experience, Pubmed isn't exactly complete either, and
it's hugely lacking as soon as stray outside its "med" focus area, and
into more interdisciplinary topics.

Google Scholar actually does a really good job. It can often find you
pdfs published by the authors as well. And if you can't find something
in pubmed or Google Scholar - don't forget to try plain Google as
well!

Mendely is a great tool, but not quite as comprehensive as I'd like
yet - they're getting better and better though, as people keep adding
more papers.
