[DIYbio] Re: Science - Art - Design

hey rachel, sounds interesting.
what kind of cellulose are you growing right now? is it suzanne lees kombucha-material? http://biocouture.posterous.com/tag/experiments
it is quite fascinating, what she does there and i myself am growing it, too as i'm a product designer and love to think of grown materials. so i'm still experimenting there. another interesting thing is this. http://www.normalflora.co.uk/  (communicating bacteria) i saw it at the london design festival 2011. She influences bacterial growth and thereforey dying her fabric by using antibiotics. quite an interesting approach i think, perhaps you can translate those kind of patternmaking onto something else.

hope i could help, unfortunatly i am not such a pro at DIYbio and therefore can't suggest so much of a bacterium or so that you could use.
cheers, helena
