Position Description 

Looking for a senior database analyst/developer with a minimum of (10+ years for Senior Database Developer or 5-7 years for Database Developer) working in the financial IT community. Candidate should possess a strong understanding of database concepts including data warehouse, operational data stores, and data marts. Candidate must have in-depth knowledge of ETL concepts and should have hands-on experience in implementing data integrations in Sybase, Oracle, and/or Teradata using custom development, a scripting language, and/or an ETL tool such as Informatica. Candidate must have strong SQL skills and should have experience developing data extracts and user reports using tools such as Business Objects, or Excel.

The candidate must have strong communication and leadership skills and be able work with both users and IT team members in a highly collaborative team environment. Candidate should be organized, disciplined, detail-oriented, self-motivated, and delivery-focused.

Morgan Stanley has recently embarked on an aggressive strategy to increase capabilities and assets in the banking space. To support this rapid business expansion, the growth of technology capabilities and services is critical. The position is in a data architecture group focused on delivering both tactical and strategic database solutions to support mortgages for retail banking. The individual will work closely with other team members, application developers, and IT owners of the data sources. Individual will be responsible for the development of ETL components, and providing user access to the data via reports, data extracts, and analysis tools such as Business Objects, and for coding stored procedures. To be successful, the role will require the individual to understand the banking technology landscape, and to have the ability to gather data requirements and design the database, the database changes, and/or ETL processes required to maintain and report on the data. Candidate must also be able to step-in to existing projects and take on a hands-on development role.  

Skills Required: 
-        In-depth knowledge of database concepts.
-        Data analysis and database design experience.
-        In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience with ETL development
-        In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience Unix/Linux programming (shell and/or Perl)
-        In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience of RDBMS systems, specifically Sybase, Teradata, and/or Oracle
-        Strong SQL skills and database programming skills including creating views, stored procedures and triggers, and implementing referential integrity, designing and coding for
         performance.
-        Strong Communication skills  

Skills Desired: 
-        Experience in the Financial Industry
-        Experience writing/supporting user reporting using Business Objects or similar tool.
