Position: 1

 

Position Title:  Network Engineer

 

Job Location:  Princeton, New Jersey (local area candidates only)

 

Duration:  3-6 Months, possible hire after 6 months

  

Responsibilities:

Reporting into the IT Infrastructure, Operations organization, the Senior Network Architect will define, design, and implement complex global data network architecture, routing/switching solutions and improvements supporting the company's Intranet, Internet, Wide/Local Area and Wireless networks. Designs, researches and develops highly advanced, reliable, scalable and secure network architecture that will provide strategic direction to the organization. 

 

·         Plans, forecasts, identifies, and implements resource requirements for Cisco network systems.

 

·         Develops strategies and direction for network solutions and both current and emerging technologies (wireless and VoIP).

 

·         Integrates and schematically depicts communication architectures, topologies, hardware and software, transmission and signaling links and protocols into complete network configurations.

 

·         Plans and recommends network hardware, systems management software and architecture.  Approves and modifies network architecture to ensure compliance.

 

·         Configures and maintains Cisco firewalls, routers, switches for network systems (including wireless and VoIP).

 

·         Monitors network performance, ensures capacity planning is performed, and is proactive in assessing and making recommendations for improvement.

 

·         Provides technical assistance and knowledge during active network troubleshooting of the operational environment

 

·         Provides technical write-ups and root cause analysis in the event of network degradations, outages, or anomalies involving Cisco technology

 

·         Recommends and implements disaster avoidance strategies and impact reduction strategies and process.

 

·         Performs trouble shooting procedures and designs resolution descriptions.

 

·         May take on role of Project Leader for special enterprise wide assignments.

 

·         Monitors solutions and recommendations for compatibility with the IT Operations strategic direction.

 

·         Conducts risk assessments and business impact analysis to identify vulnerable areas and applications within the environment.

 

·         Reviews network operations designs to ensure that the infrastructure design continues to meet the needs of the business.

 

·         Ensures best practices, standards and guidelines are applied in developing, designing and implementing solutions, establishing work priorities, resolving problems and reporting on project status.

 

·         Creates and prioritize remediation plans.

 

·         Translates business requirements into network or process designs.

 

·         Evaluates and recommends new products, maintains knowledge of emerging technologies for application to the enterprise.

 

·         Ensures that adequate backup equipment systems and processes are in place to preserve vital information, data, and/or media.

 

Required Knowledge and Skills:

·         Advanced knowledge of Wide Area Network (WAN) management and configuration principles.

 

·         Advanced knowledge of Cisco Networking hardware and IOS.

 

·         Advanced knowledge of networks, security guidelines and industry “best practices”.

 

·         Advanced knowledge of LAN/WAN hardware devices specifically Cisco ASA Firewalls, 6500 series switches – sup 2, 32, 720 models, Routers, and Nexus Switches.

 

·         Cisco VPN - Tunnel creation and client setups

 

·         Knowledge in FatPipe and F5 appliances

 

·         Advanced skills in solving complex technical problems involving integrated operating systems and hardware platforms.

 

·         Advanced skills in configuring and installing equipment to support LAN/WAN applications.

 

·         Advanced skills in analyzing data and implementing solutions.

 

·         Knowledge of a wide variety of operating and server systems

 

·         Understanding of Disaster Recovery concepts and applications.

 

·         Proven ability to apply technology and process solutions to business problems.

 

·         Proven ability to manage large and complex projects and issues.

 

·         Experience in a large inter-networking or distributed computing environment.

 

·         Excellent communications and interpersonal skills.

 

·         Proven ability to work independently to complete projects/goals.

Requirements:

 

          

 

·         Minimum of 7-10 years of increasingly diverse or complex experience in field of network architecture and engineering. Professional Cisco CCIE preferred. Possesses broad and deep knowledge in LAN/WAN/Wireless architectural design within a global environment. Must have a minimum of 10+ years of data networking experience

 

·         Cisco VOIP experience preferred

 

·         Extensive knowledge with MPLS, Cisco networking, Layer 2 and Layer 3 routing and switching.

 

·         A practical level of experience implementing and administrating common TCP/IP-based services, including DNS, DHCP, HTTP, FTP, SSH, SMTP, etc.

·         Strong knowledge and background in network firewall technology.

 

·         Extensive experience working with network carriers and vendors negotiating rates, contracts, and service level agreements.

 

·         Deep technical knowledge working across multiple applications, operating systems and devices is required

 

·         Strong knowledge of Storage Area Networking

 

·         Excellent communication, analytical, and writing skills with the ability to participate in and lead team based engineering projects.

 

·         All aspects of connectivity Cisco Nexus/IOS, VOIP, Video conferencing Wi-Fi, VPN, UCS,

 

·         Solid understanding of CISCO routers, switches, and firewalls

 

·         Solid understanding of virtualization principals and an exceptional knowledge of VMware operation and support techniques
