I know we are missing important things. Please let me know about anything coming up that you think should be on the list.
Here are your DIYbio events for the week. On Sunday, Bethesda meets to go over their projects, and Oakland continues work on Open Insulin. On Monday, Austin will be at a discussion by Jacob Ashton on beer and brewing in space, and Sunnyvale continues work on a quantum salinity detector based on surface plasmon resonance. On Tuesday, Amsterdam goes through their project selection and planning, Austin has Susan Golden speaking on a day in the life of a cyanobacterium, Minneapolis has a low cost equipment workshop, where you can try out gel electrophoresis and a build-your-own spectrometer, Mountain View has Gabriele Scheler speaking on an introduction to mathematical modeling and data science in cell biology, and Somerville has a discussion of a paper about a DNA copying technique that does not require heating-cooling cycles. On Wednesday, Brooklyn has a workshop on design of RNA guides for CRISPR/CAS9, Hertogenbosch has a discussion of the legal and ethical issues of new bio-materials, and Vancouver has a 3D bioprinting demonstration. On Thursday Brooklyn has a talk by Dr. Niki Athanasiadou on the everyday use of the scientific method, London has talks on complex error detection during genome assembly by Fatima Vayani, and the use of graphs, instead of sequence as reference genomes by Erik Garrison, Melbourne introduces you to their lab with a brainstorming session, Oakland works on the art of science and science of art together with their biohacking bootcamp, and Sunnyvale continues with their bioprinter project. On Friday, Montreal has their open lab night. On Saturday Austin has Dr Rhykka Connelly showing home bioreactors for spirulina and chlorella algae, Brooklyn has an electromyography workshop, Cambridge has talks and a workshop on maker applications for wildlife conservation by Tony Nagg (bat detection) and Mayke de Freitas Santos (drones for spectral detection). In the workshop, you can help build bat detector boards. Also on Saturday, San Diego has an open lab and a bioinformatics workshop.

To see when the next event is in your area, check the full list of usual suspects. Don't see one near you? Why not have your own and get it posted here? Tell us about it by emailing events@diybio.org. It would be great to post some photos of your event somewhere. We'd love to see them. We do have some guidelines for what is posted, and are not capturing every event within the community.
