[DIYbio] germicidal uv lamps and ozone

We have our UV hood lamps on 24 hr a day now. Recently I noticed a
strong smell as I opened the hood to prepare reactions. Is this ozone
being produced? Or maybe the UV is reacting with the plastics (pipet
tip boxes, plastic beaker) inside?

I just felt this strong smell recently. I guess before doing any work,
I'll have to open the hood and let the smell out.
