Re: [DIYbio] Re: reusing/recycling empty pipette boxes

A lab I worked at years ago was short on money. To save money we
purchased tips in bulk, packaged in bags rather than boxes. We
recycled boxes by reloading them with the tips from the bags (wearing
gloves), then autoclaved the refilled boxes. We were going through
around 2-3000 tips per day, so it saved a good chunk of money, around
$1000 per month. Tips in boxes cost around 80-100% more than in bags
but refilling the boxes is quite tedious, so it only makes sense if
you are short on money but not on time.
