[DIYbio] Open Science, Open Funding

Hi Everyone,

Get ready, I'm about to ask you for something.

The Open Science Summit, since 2010, has been a meeting place and a breeding ground for an ongoing discussion of what the scientific process should strive to be. A conference of scientists, engineers, entrepreneurs, philosophers and students, the annual Summit has served to expand and evolve the pursuit of a better science through a better scientific infrastructure; a better scientific community. This year, the Open Science Summit hopes to return with a bigger community than ever before - to extend the conversation beyond the conference via a webseries of lectures and interviews.  This mission, though, requires your help.

We have just launched a Kickstarter in hopes of gathering support for the conference and the series to accompany it.  I'm asking you all, who I believe already understand the significance of this project - of the movement for a better science, for a better scientific process and a better scientific community - to join in supporting a conversation that can and will change the scientific community, and indeed every community we impact.

Please do what you can to help bring this campaign across the finish line - to help us spread the word and gather awareness, attention and support for the project.
If you have any suggestions or leads on where this message might gain traction and reach an attentive and relevant audience, please speak up and/or send a message!  We hope to earn the support of everyone we can, so please don't hesitate to offer suggestions.  Everything is appreciated.

Thank you all for what you've already done in the name of open science, and for everything I hope you'll continue to do in support of a mission for legitimacy and validity, truth and transparency, access and equality - for a better way to pursue an insatiable curiosity that we share.

Alex
