[DIYbio] Re: 2,3,5-Triphenyltetrazolium chloride

Hi Anna,

We will be using the stuff for trying out if the ancient Roman wheat is capable of growth. I think it gives colur if NADH is present, thus you can find out if there is metabolic activity.

You want to distinguish between coliforms and non-coliforms?

HI,
I would like to find a dye to add to the agar substrate to indicate the growth of possible coliform growth of my bacteria culture.
I have come across 2,3,5-Triphenyltetrazolium choride in various studies and products as an option.
Please let me know if you have any experience or recommendations.
I'm fairly new at this, so any help will be appreciated.
Thanks,
Anna
