Hi everyone. I didn't see this mentioned here before. http://www.theguardian.com/science/2013/dec/20/anti-ageing-human-trials http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/24360282 Mice were administered a NADH precursor, and it reversed physical ageing. Think of a 60 year old taking the drug and his body will be like 20 again (well, not toally because of aged proteins in the face, skin folds, etc. but functional 20 year old :D ) I haven't found out yet whether feeding it would be sufficient (such a small moleczule should be absorbed through the intestine, right?) or if you have to inject it into one's blood stream. I remember seeing NADH pills in the drug store some time ago, and thought "what is it good for? body building?"
This is not what it is advertised to be.

1) It's coming from a source - the Sinclair lab - that is experienced in overhyping their past work, and they are definitely doing it here.

2) To my eyes it is merely an interesting insight into why manipulation of HIF-1 can modestly extend life in a number of species.

So good science from the point of view of continuing investigation of molecular biology relevant to natural variations in longevity, but don't expect anything practical to result from it other than a rush for funding and attention from the Sinclair group that is reaching a billion in sunk costs at this point and with not much to show for it other than knowledge.

See:

https://www.fightaging.org/archives/2013/12/increasing-nad-to-reduce-hif-1-reverses-age-related-inflammation-and-insulin-resistance-in-muscle-tissue.php

This is absolutely characteristic of work that cannot ever by any stretch of the imagination lead to meaningful human life extension treatments.
