Role: Enterprise Backup Administrator/Systems Engineer

Location :  Mechanicsburg, Pa

Duration : Long Term 

This engineer will be the system administrator for our Enterprise Backup solutions and will routinely work with vendors, project managers, system administrators, database administrators, application developers and end users in order to maintain and improve the performance of our servers, databases and applications.

We are looking for a flexible, self-starter with a positive attitude that enjoys supporting and helping others in a fast paced and team oriented environment.

Skills/Experience:

Education

·       Bachelor Degree (EE, CS, etc.)

·       Certifications/Key Experience:

o   Symantec NetBackup (Required)

• SCP or SCS

o   CommVaultSimpana (Desired)

Technical Skills & Responsibilities

·       Gathers requirements, performs installations, tests and configures backup and recovery systems in a high availability enterprise environment on a day-to-day basis

·       Maintains backup policies, schedules and standards, including overseeing legal hold retention policies

·       Manages the equipment associated with the backup environment to include servers and storage

·       Manages Virtual Tape Library (VTL), SAN Media servers, Vault and Duplication solutions

·       Supports Disaster Recovery exercises and events using third party service providers (ex. SunGard)

·       Manages backup and recovery for virtualization technologies

·       Plans, schedules and performs proactive maintenance, including hardware and software upgrades and patch installation on client platforms.

·       Performs backup environment system tuning including monitoring, troubleshooting and optimizing performance.

·       Troubleshoots and resolves backup and recovery problems

·       Regularly reports on backup services relative to SLA performance, policy deviations and/or corrective actions

·       Produce daily reports on backup system performance that address trend analysis and job completion status

·       Define and maintain architecture best practices, including procedures, templates and relevant documentation

·       Interact with various support teams to build and maintain applications, databases and servers

MUST HAVE SKILLSETS

• Eight (8) years of experience with building and maintaining Symantec NetBackup production environments in large scale Data Center environments
• Five (5) years of experience with Linux/Unix, Windows operating system administration
• Ability to establish and maintain backup architecture best practices, including procedures, templates and relevant documentation
• Ability to effectively multi-task and work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment

NICE TO HAVE SKILLSETS:

·         Experience with ensuring backup and recovery Service Level Agreements (SLA) are met

• Solid experience with disaster recovery preparation and associated exercises involving SQL Server, Oracle Database and RMAN backup experience
• Strong understanding of networking technologies and protocols is highly desired
• Strong scripting skills (Perl, PowerShell, etc.)
