Hi to all,
I would like to know who would be interested in participating in variety of food and beverage hacking/projects at 31c3? I'm coordinating the preparations for Food Hacking Base group for this event (as in past years) aiming to create an open hub suitable for food, beverage and bio hacking.
This year we want to focus more on experimental food and beverage hacking and biotech and I know there are many people in DIY who are into the later. It would be really nice to set up small experimental bio lab where we could do following stuff:
- demonstrate aseptic techniques using laminar flow cabinet (DIY) - growing edible mushrooms for example (or preferably something faster)
- grow variety of microbes (and ferment with them) under controlled conditions (experimental incubator (FHB project) and similar) - yeast and edible molds cultivation for example
- measuring variety of conditions like temperature, humidity, pH with DIY equipment
- showing the "microcosmos" using optical microscopy (visualization on screen would be lovely)
- whatever you can think off
The topics above are just some of what we are after, selected I believe for their relevance to this list. If you would like to get involved that would be lovely, please talk to me, preferably send email to algoldor@foodhackingbase.org or check how to get in touch here
We have been on four congresses till now, so we know the environment, growing bigger and better equipped every time. The basic idea is to create an open platform for food, beverage and bio hacking, what the people participating are interested in will be done. The bio hacking and food biotech was weak so far so I hope that people and groups who are into this will join so we can cooperate sharing the resources, it is really important to demonstrate to the people these things at conferences also in a practical manner.
Have a good time and I hope to hear from you soon,
Sincerely,
Frantisek Algoldor Apfelbeck
PS The deadline for submitting talks for 31c3 is 14th of September (23:59 UTC).
