RE: [DIYbio] Season's special deals

Remember to apply for a "New Lab Discount" since some suppliers offer 50% off on the first order. May require a company name. I got my first batch of enzymes from NEB.com for half off. Q5, cutters, ligase, dntps, the works! EZ Biotech, Bulldog Bio, the guys who sell the GeneMate brand are all smaller companies who don't really care about formalities when it comes to purchasing. If it does not offer promotional explicitly, email them. December is the best month to buy equipment since its end of year and they need to move stock asap. Push that concept onto your sales rep and you can really score some sweet deals.

Also,if you pay via PO, the promo sometimes remains applied. This happened to me at Genscript. I haggled a deal for sequencing and I've been paying $3/run ever since. Just kept using the same purchase order and pay by check once bill arrives.

Not sure of any direct BF or cyber Monday promotional but these deals tend to happen around now. If you put the effort in to call and also complain about their competitors a little, they will be happy to sweeten the deal and keep you as a customer. Just say you've been shopping around for a new supplier for whatever you are looking for and chat them up. It really is a social game but the score is huge if you put in the effort.

Subject: [DIYbio] Season's special deals

I am surprised no one started a Black Friday or Cyber Monday list on here of all the biotech suppliers willing to grab customer attention.
