RE: [DIYbio] Enzyme Supply

Gene and cell technologies uses the sane vector as openniotech to produce taq. Listings on eBay and their main site. I use it all the time for routine pcr. I got the 4mL vial for under $100. Www.geneandcell.com

Subject: [DIYbio] Enzyme Supply

Hello everyone,

With openbiotech.com being down for the time being, I've found myself without a supply of Taq polymerase that isn't from a large corporate source. This hasn't been too big of a problem, but it does represent some inconvenience. After Christmas I'm going to have the PolI gene synthesized and place it in an expression plasmid so I never have to deal with a supply chain issue again for Taq poly.
Would anyone else be interesting in purchasing Taq poly, ligase, and the few other enzymes I'm going to be synthesizing? I don't know how many of you make your own already. I really love the business model of openbiotech.com, open sourcing biology and selling enzymes/reagents at prices that aren't extremely marked up.

So, if anyone is interested, let me know. If there is enough interest, I'll send out a few samples to kick it off.
