Re: [DIYbio] Tips for a first time hackathon participant?

I have been on hack days and last year I was a mentor on Berlin Science Hack

- can you bring something interesting to play with?
your tool set, be it hardware, or stationary, or book binding or anything.

- do you have an idea that could be made during the time?
work out what people might be good to be in a team.   Pitch! [ add your idea here http://sciencehackdayhouston.com/add-your-idea/ ]

if not?

-find a project that has been pitched that interests you. Join that.

what if I'm not a programmer/hacker?

- don't worry, lots of things contribute to a great science hack. the Idea, the communication (visual/audio), background research, testing the prototype and feedback

theres a nice faq on the website :) http://sciencehackdayhouston.com/faq/

Have fun !

I'm attending Science Hack Day Houston this upcoming weekend. It is my first time attending a hackathon and I'm a bit nervous. Have any of you been to hackathons? If so, what was your experience like? Do you have any tips for a newbie? Thanks!
