Beware that Amazon's cheapest tablets are not able to use USB OTG while charging. This seems to be due to lack of kernel support. Possibly putting CyanogenMod or similar on there might fix this but I haven't tried. If anyone knows anyone in the San Jose headquarters of Lab126 maybe you could let them know about the issue?
