[DIYbio] Interview help for class

Hi everyone! I have to do a short interview for my student Life skills class. It is for my biotech career path (I'm doing an AS Biotech Lab Specialist degree).

If anyone has any time today or tomorrow to answer some questions, I would really appreciate it. Thank you!

Canned responses are fine, but honest ones are appreciated.

What is your current job title/position and how long have you been in this role?

Describe your career and educational path.

What is a typical day (or week) like for you?

What skills, abilities, and personal attributes are essential to success in your job/this field?

What qualifications do you (or the organization) look for in a new hire?

Where do you see this profession (or industry) going in the next five to ten years?

Do you have any advice for me as I pursue this pathway?

What kind of pay can I expect with my AS degree?

Do you think it prudent, or necessary, to study related legal issues to biotech industry, and future prospects? Meaning, would such knowledge help me get better paying jobs, or help me net research grants?

Do you have any personal preferences for the different BS programs available to me here in FL? UF, or UNF, or USF... Any one of them better for biotech (from your point of view).

I have an interest in human life extension and regeneration. Any advice about industry, college, etc to help me progress towards these goals?

Any other advice for me you can think of, or any questions I should be asking?

Thank you!
