Write-up:
· Experience in implementing operational solutions with SQL Server 2008 R2.
· Strong knowledge of backups, restores, recovery models, database shrink operations, and DBCC commands for MS SQL environments.
· Strong experience in Database Administration in SQL Server.
Overview:
Providing database development services for an enhanced SQL based application. Some of the primary responsibilities of this role would include SQL development, owning, tracking and resolving database related incidents and requests, participation in design of database architecture for current and future products, responding to database related alerts and escalations and working with research and development teams to implement optimal solutions. This MS SQL Server DBA role requires a service oriented mentality with a high sense of ownership of the projects, problems and requests assigned. This role will be actively participating in a high energy development environment.
Responsibilities:
• SQL Development – ability to write and troubleshoot SQL Code and design (stored procedures, functions, tables, views, indexes, constraints).
• SQL Development – experience in creating database architecture with associated schema as part of a software design process.
• Strong experience in Database Administration in SQL Server.
• Demonstrate excellent written and oral communications skills with the ability to articulate technical solutions for both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Demonstrate self-motivation and goal oriented achievement.
• Capable of multi-tasking and working with a variety of people.
• Troubleshooting and resolving database integrity issues, performance issues, blocking and deadlocking issues, replication issues, log issues, connectivity issues, security issues etc.
• Identifying and communicating risks, issues and potential solution strategies along with providing status updates to the portfolio/project manager and/or senior leadership.
• Must be well-organized, responsible, work effectively in a project management framework, and with the ability to follow the SDLC process.
Required:
• Solid understanding of the processes and systems in use (or the ability to quickly acquire the knowledge)
• Experience in troubleshooting and resolving database integrity issues, performance issues, blocking and deadlocking issues, log issues, connectivity issues, security issues etc.
• Experience in Performance Tuning, Query Optimization, using Performance Monitor, SQL Profiler and other related monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
• Ability to identify and troubleshoot SQL Server related CPU, memory, I/O, disk space and other resource contention.
• Strong knowledge of backups, restores, recovery models, database shrink operations, and DBCC commands for MS SQL environments.
• Experience in implementing operational solutions with SQL Server 2008 R2.
• Strong knowledge of indexing, index management, integrity checks, and configuration management.
• Familiarity with Windows Server 2008 R2, security delegation, SPNs, storage components.
• Ability to network with documentation and testing teams to accomplish creation of processes and procedures.
Experience with financial risk management is a plus!
