Job Description:


Under general supervision of the Application Development lead, with latitude for independent initiative and judgment, serves as a front-end web developer.  The candidate will be expected to implement web parts into our existing framework using a variety of front end languages including XHTML, CSS, XML, Javascript and jQuery.    The consultant should have hands-on experience with web site design, cascading style sheet design and implementation, as well as HTML programming. 


Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Application Development Team to develop websites and applications across the DOE
  • Provide developers across DIIT with tools to implement intuitive user interface components in enterprise applications
  • Work with the Creative Service Team to develop standards of CSS, XHTML, jQuery and other user interface components to ensure consistency across websites and applications
  • Assist in the creation and maintenance of websites developed in the DOE’s Content Management System
  • Help in the creation of professional development tools to help support the use of DOE web properties including authoring, content development, etc.
  • Stay abreast of the latest UI technologies and work with the Creative Services Team to ensure that the organization is proactive in its use of rapidly developing web technologies such as mobile development, video, social media, and Flash.

 

Qualification Requirements:

  • At least 4 years of experience in a creative group environment with at least 4 years in front-end / user interface development
  • Portfolio of websites demonstrating mastery of CSS and other front-end technologies
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience with MCMS
  • Expert level CSS and XHTML skills.
  • Working knowledge of JavaScript and jQuery.
  • Excellent CSS knowledge required (as opposed to table-based) layout a must.
  • Graphical User Interface design experiences a must.
  • .NET and Visual Studio experience preferred.
  • Some Sharepoint (2007 / 2010) experience preferred.
