[DIYbio] Re: Genomic DNA Repository

I made a small list of plasmids I have. I'll try and update it later with sequences or at least links to sequences and clean it up and add some new DNA that I've gotten from people

Anyone want to make an official list?

I've been searching for some gDNA of ye olde Aquoria Victoria jellyfish and stumbled upon a few sites that sell pure gDNA for like $230. That's ludicrous. Does anyone want to make a decentralized gDNA repo/sharing program?

Just dedicate one tube box to gDNA from organism you work with often and keep them on a list like github for others to request. They just pay shipping. Maybe a buck for the effort?

I have a decent collection of plant gDNA extracted using a simple buffer like the one posted in openwetware.org under "Arabidopsis gDNA". I keep mine in water for short term use and TE for long term storage. Have an Arabidopsis gDNA sample from 2010 and I've managed to amplify all kinds of fragments with no error even recently. Seems stable enough. Wouldn't take long to extract either. What say you all?

Wanna setup a gDNA share program of sorts? Easy way to get PCR-ready gDNA within a week's time.
