Here are your DIYbio events for the week. On Monday, Brooklyn starts a 4-day series for their Biohacker Bootcamp, Cambridge has talks on plant derived compounds for low cost medicine by Thomas Meany and engineering plant morphology by Mihails Delmans, and Oakland continues its work on the synthetic biology to create Real Vegan Cheese. On Tuesday, Amsterdam will have its Genetic Modification for Dummies workshop. On Wednesday Albany will have a talk by Jerry A. Carlson about the health of New York's forests, Amsterdam has an Art of Impact workshop where they are creatively on the hunt for DIY antibiotics, hosted by artists Mike Thompson, Susana Camara Leret, Špela Petrič and biohacker Pieter van Boheemen, Baltimore has Whitney Webre hosting a talk and tasting on the science of coffee, San Diego has a workshop on the science of cheese hosted by Mary MacDonald, PhD, and Vancouver will have a discussion of DNA barcoding technique applied to microorganisms in kombucha scobys. On Thursday, Ljubljana has their BeerDecoded beer tasting, DNA extraction and brainstorming session, with introductions by the project's director Gianpaolo Rando to progress on the funded kickstarter project to map the DNA of beers (space is very limited, and you need to email kristijan.tkalec@biotehna.org to get in), and Oakland begins another round of its biohacking bootcamp sessions. On Friday, Vancouver has a mead pouring, where you can learn about the process of making honey wine.
