Hi DIY-Bio DIYers,
-- I am considering delving into CRISPR for applications in plants.
For those who are experience in CRISPR work, here are my questions that I hope to get guidance for:
1. What is a good list of essential CRISPR resources I need to procure before actually designing experiments and conducting them? (For eg. vectors etc.)
2. Since I operate out of a garage lab in Tidewater area of Virginia, USA (the 757 MakerSpace does not appear to have such resources) from who do you think I can request / purchase items from your list (in answer 1)?
3. I have some limited bioinformatics experience. What are good online / offline resources to train myself in bioinformatic design of CRISPR probes?
4. A lot of the research papers on CRISPR arrays appear to be for mammalian species and related model species - not so much for plants at all. What are those reasons? Purely monetary, or any science-based limitations (like cell wall barrier to delivery, etc.)?
Thanks, in advance.
Best,
Tom
