Hi,
I just wanted to let you know some updates on our openSNP-project: Right now we have 86 users and 42 of those have uploaded their data (and others publish association studies with 23 genotyped participants in PNAS ;)). All in all 431 variations were entered by those users and we are growing slowly but steadily, which is really nice.
Currently we are trying to get some funding in order to be able to get some people genotyped that are willing to share the results with the public and we are working on implementing the Distributed Annotation System-Protocol (which is also used for the widely used genome browsers) in order to make reusing the data even simpler. Right now we are looking for the easiest way to create a unique DAS-resource for each uploaded genotyping file.
Oh, and some shameless advertising at last: We also made it into the Top 11 of the Mendeley/PLoS Binary Battle. They have a public vote on the favorite. So if you like our idea you could give us your vote: http://www.surveygizmo.com/s3/722753/Mendeley-PLoS-Binary-Battle-Public-Vote But also have a look at the other participants, there are some other great tools which make use of open resources as well.
Cheers,
Bastian
