I can second Simon's sentiment. My phone doesn't do Excel
spreadsheets, my TI-30-something calculator does linear regressions
well enough. If I do the measurements by hand, the slowest part of the
process is actually doing the measurements, if I've got an
autosampler, the slowest step is entering the data.
Getting away (slightly) from what Simon was saying, it's rough
carrying a phone and a calculator, but for a good portion of linear
regressions I do, I don't need either. I was recently referred to as a
member of "the generation that can do math in their head". Personally,
an iPhone (Android?) app that does linear regressions for personal
benefit is a great idea, I disapprove of selling an iPhone app to help
others do linear regressions.
