What is your application? If you want to visualize DNA bands in an an
agarose gel, a 'pet stain' UV light will show bands ($10-20). It
could be placed on a table, with a glass/plastic plate above it on
which the gel sits. An enclosure such as the one in the Instructable
is mainly useful as a permanent mounting that is easy to clean.
