Re: Using Kickstarter to fund Our PLoS One Publication Fee for our experiments

Hi All:
I just posted an updated breaking down the backers of the $1395 raised
to date. Of interest is that 1/3 of the funds and total backers came
from the DIYBio community. Huzzah!

Also: I posted this FAQ in the post:
Question: You reached your target! But be aware Kickstarter takes 3-5%
of the funds, and Amazon 3-5% on top of that. Do you need more
funding?

Answer: We decided it made for a cleaner narrative to request the
exact amount of $1350 on the PLoS One invoice (see update). We've
raised $1395 now, which will help offset the cuts Kickstarter and
Amazon will take. We also have "skin in the game" too and can add
whatever more is needed. But if you want to still contribute, of
course feel free to and thanks!

And finally, yes we are in the StartUp Chile Program. We head down in
7 days.

I was surprised it only took 5 days to raise the funding. This is a
good sign for science to come.
Cheers,
Tim
