I plan do do some basis cell culture but doent want to spend a fortune on the basis reagents needed to do this work and plan to source my ingredients from Health Food shops. I am looking for cheap and effective substitutes for the following:
1) L-Glutamine solution (can I make my own using health food glutamine?)
2) Penicillin/streptomycin (are there any natural alternatives?)
3) HEPES buffer
4) Hanks salt solution
5) Trypsin-EDTA solution used to subculture cells
6) Cell culture medium (can I make my own using health food supplies?)
