[DIYbio] Re: Two Citizen Scientists Win First Bay Area Open Science Challenge

Congratulations Ryan and Derek!  Can't wait to see what you guys do now that you've got some resources to feed the dream.

I'm a big fan of the Open Science Challenge, and hope it continues to grow and evolve in years to come.  Some dreams must be fed.

I just wanted to announce that we awarded two prizes worth $5k each to Ryan Bethencourt and Derek Jacoby, two Bay-Area citizen scientists (and DIYers) for winning the Open Science Challenge. They also won a one-year membership at BioCurious so that they work with other DIYers on their projects and ideas. You can more read about it on our press release.

We plan on holding more competitions in the future, with our next one possibly in the Tri-State (NY) area.
