I tried that with one site, but shortly thereafter got an email with "sorry, we don't give accounts to individuals". Guess I might try it with more companies, but I'm quite shy and would prefer to go under the radar where possible.

ship to individuals. Try putting "none" if the webform requires it and
see what happens when you place an order.
