UV is 'converted into' oxidants such as hydrogen peroxide (H(2)O(2)), superoxide anion (O(2)(-)) accumulation, lipid peroxidation (malondialdehyde--MDA), lipoxygenase (LOX) and is handled by antioxidants such as superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT), and peroxidase (POX).
