Role : Java Portal Developer
Duration : 8 months
Location : new Havens CT
Responsible for the technology design, development and deployment of mission critical infrastructure applications. Current projects include the development of infrastructure to support Service Oriented Architecture, integrations with legacy systems and cloud based services. This includes components to support security and governance of service enabled applications and pilot projects using ESB and ETL components. As a member of the Infrastructure Software Engineering team, you will be expected to provide senior technical leadership within the team in all phases of the projects you'll be assigned.
Essential Duties
1. Work with the team to define and implement best practices for employing the Red Hat FUSE Enterprise Integration Platform based on Apache ServiceMix, Camel, OSGi.
2. Designing and developing Web Services using current tools and methodologies.
3. Play a senior role in the collaborative analysis, design, and development of new and existing Java applications.
4. Work as part of a self-organizing team using Agile methodology.
5. Mentor junior team members in J2EE / Java best practices.
6. Actively participate in creating and evolving standards and best practices for our development process.
7. Work with other team members to drive architecture, development, testing, and deployment standards within the team and larger enterprise.
8. Interact with stakeholders helping them to define, implement and use service enabled processes.
9. Assist team with architecting and developing applications leveraging cloud technology.
Education and Experience
1. Bachelor's degree plus seven years of experience Java development and Architecture.
2. Extensive experience developing Java applications using the Spring 3 Framework (WS, Data Access, AOP) and Apache Tiles.
3. Extensive experience implementing and wiring Web Services in a Java environment using standard libraries such as JAXB, JAX-RS and JAX-WS.
4. Experience developing unit tests and integration tests
5. Experience with SVN, Maven, Ant and continuous integration with Jenkins.
6. Experience with ESB implementations and message queuing technologies.
7. Experience with Relational Databases especially Oracle and SQL Server.
8. Experience with Hibernate Persistence Framework.
9. Experience with Test Driven Development (TDD) preferred.
10. Experience securing web services preferred
11. Experience with Apache ServiceMix, Camel preferred.
12. Experience with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript and MVC architecture preferred.
Skills and Abilities
1. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.
2. Familiarity with Enterprise Integration Patterns
3. Strong desire to work with team to adopt Agile best practices including time boxed sprints, frequent refactoring, continuous integration and test driven development.
4. Proven ability to design and develop enterprise applications.
5. Proven experience mentoring others.
6. Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
7. Must be a fast learner with a strong desire and motivation to learn about Yale and the higher education environment.
8. Familiarity with UML artifacts (class, sequence diagrams, etc.)
9. Experienced in Agile Development Methodology.
10. Must be highly adaptable to perform in a fast paced environment.
