Re: [DIYbio] Two Synthetic Biology Courses in Sunnyvale Area: for DIYers/Biohackers/Scientist-Entrepreneurs

     Two courses geared toward DIYers and others pursuing synthetic biology for either scientific or entrepreneurial reasons are planned for this December 6-20, 2013 at Regenerative Sciences Institute in Sunnyvale, CA:  Introduction to Synthetic Biology for Scientists and Biohackers and Introduction to Synthetic Biology for Entrepreneurs. 

     After completing either of these courses, the students should have a better idea of what is really possible to achieve in simple synthetic biology experiments practically. Both courses will stress how to troubleshoot problems and to evaluate which resources are really needed to make things work. The entrepreneurial class will cover available realistic business strategies, such as crowdfunding and small business grants.  The classes are modeled on iGEM, will use Biobricks as needed, but instead of a grand prize, the hoped for reward will be a modest scientific publication or a small business grant.
