Role : ETL Developer
Location : NY
Duration : 2 years
The resource will be responsible for but not limited to the following:
· Automating the data loading processes without manual intervention
o Developing optimal code in the DataStage ETL Tool to maintain exceptional performance in processing data across diverse sources
· Programming in SQL and PL/SQL - Oracle
· Developing and coding ETL batch and real time jobs
· Developing interfaces between Datastage with SOA ESB realtime
o Developing DataStage ETL from Staging to ODS to Data Marts and to Master Data databases
o Communicating effectively with the Enterprise Architecture team as well as other development teams in implementing the industry best practices and providing solutions to other ETL developers to optimize data processing
o Working with Business Analysts, ETL Architects, Data Architects, Data Analysts, Enterprise Architects and BI Architects to ensure business requirements are being met with the solution being developed
· Participating in the design of data handling, data cleansing, standardization procedures, business transformation rules and logic
Expertise Required:
a) Oracle Relational DBMS, SQL & PLSQL development - writing stored procedures
b) IBM DataStage ETL development – designing interfaces with SOA ESB
c) SQL, cardinality, levels of granularity, normalized vs. de-normalized, handling of real time service feeds, transactional data, history tracking, slowly changing dimensions, auditing, database and tool optimization techniques and other such data architecture best practices
d) Core ETL architectural principles such as modularity, re-start ability, parallelization and table driven business rules
e) Information delivery architecture including the creation of abstraction layers, SQL query paths and optimization, report level calculations and end user reporting architecture
Required Experience & Minimum Core Competencies:
· 5-10 years of experience programming code for data related projects (building Operational Data Store, Data Marts and Data Warehouses)
· Experience with development for terabyte size databases
· 3 years of demonstrated extensive ETL development experience using IBM Datastage in an Oracle database. Candidates without at least 3 years of Datastage experience will not be considered!
· Data architecture and modeling experience implementing proper data structures for an ETL solution
- Experience in optimizing SQL queries.
- Experience with SOA principles.
· Experience with batch, CDC and near real time integration
· Full understanding and experience in implementing ETL, ODS, DW, DM and Master Data solutions
· Excellent Analytical skills
· Flexibility/Adaptability is required, especially when working in a large team
· Must be a technical hands-on person
· Must be detail oriented
Desired Skills
- Experience with at least 3 enterprise data solutions.
- Experience in the Education space with knowledge of assessments software.
- Prior experience working in the DOE or another city agency.
- Experience with one or more of the following other database engines: (Teradata, Netezza, SQL Server, MySQL) and/or
Experience with one or more of the following other ETL tools: (SAS, Informatica, Ab Initio) and data modeling tools such as Erwin (or equivalent)
