Location Sherburne County Generating Plant – Becker, MN

Job Responsibilities: 

Xcel Energy is looking for a Project Controls’ Professional to support base capital projects at the NSP Sherco Generating Plant.

Scope of Work Provide on-site project coordination, project controls and project management support services for the Turbine Control upgrade projects including the some or all of the following duties as requested by the Project Lead(s).

Manages the entire project lifecycle from project definition through implementation. Accountable for meeting agreed upon scope, cost, schedule and quality measures. Develops project plan and drives project milestones. Establishes effective communication plan with project team and key stakeholders. Provides day-to-day direction to project resources and ensures the project teams are provided the resources and support that enable the teams to reach their defined objectives. Ensures effective change management occurs throughout the course of the project. Responsible for preparation of documentation and status reports. Role requires excellent oral and written communications, interpersonal, negotiation, project planning, judgment, leadership, decision-making, analysis and problem-solving skills. Expert knowledge of MS Project, Excel, MS Word and Visio.

Deliverables

• Overall Projects coordination schedule and documents

• Individual project schedules

• Individual project cost tracking PROJECT CONTROLS – COST

• Maintain timely cost detail (CAR) & summarization

• Provide CAR / CBS reconciliation and deviation report

o Provide Budget v Actual v Forecast deviation explanations

• Ensure accurate accounting and segregation of project expenditures

• Ensure timely review and processing of invoices

• Provide accurate accrual accounting

• Conduct periodic review of CAR versus Project Schedule

• Assist in review of bid packages and bid proposals

• Assist in review of change requests and impact to CAR

• Ensure timely creation/closure of project Work Orders

• Ensure Capital Asset Accounting requirements are met

• Ensure timely submittal of As-Built forms PROJECT CONTROLS - SCHEDULE Project Schedule Development

• Develop Project Schedule(s) with Projects team

• Incorporate Six Phase Process into Schedule

• Expand Project Schedule Detail for each Phase of the Process

• Assign Resources and Resource Analyze Project Schedule

• Update valid Scope to Project Schedule

• Define Project Critical Path Project Schedule Implementation

• Progress Schedule from Field Monitoring

• Incorporate Project Schedule adjustments from problem & logistic assessments

• Validate Project Schedule Metrics

• Develop Recovery Plans

• Develop Project Schedule Targets and Archive Plan

• Assist Project Management with Project Strategy

• Advise Project Management to Trends and Assessments Other Requirements

Education/Requirements:

• BS or higher in Engineering/Technical fields or job experience

• Must-have experienced in Primavera P6 is a MUST

• Must-have experience in the Power Generation Industry ( Oil/Gas –Power-Utility industry)

• MUST be detailed oriented and have experience coordinating multiple complex projects Base Capital Project Support Xcel
