Description:

Group O is searching for a seasoned Data Modeler to join its growing team. The ideal candidate must have significant experience working as a Data Modeler with specific emphasis on designing data solutions/schemas to support analytics and reporting functions. The candidate must have solid understanding of different data modeling, design approaches, and understanding of when each should be used depending on the defined business, data, and operational requirements. The "data modeler" must be well versed in "ER Modeling"(entity-relationship modeling) and have a good understanding of business process.

Overview:

Ø  The position will be working with the new Aster/MARS team.  The Data Modeler will need solid data modeling experience, for reporting and analytics solutions within a Teradata environment.  Furthermore, the Modeler must have the ability of Data Analysis/profiling, reverse engineering of data, and obtain business meaning of data attributes. Experience working with Big Data is a plus, but not required and experience using Data Modeling tool ERwin, is a must!

Requirements:

The following characteristics are required for consideration:

·         Must have solid skills and experience working with ERwin

·         Must have solid understanding of how to model within a Teradata environment.

·         Must have experience creating Technical Solution Design Documents that can be handed over to development teams for coding.

• Must be able to lead requirements sessions with end user teams to fully vet requirements that will influence the proposed data model design.
• Must be organized and able to follow established implementation and change control processes

Functions performed by resource:

Responsibilities:

• Provide Client with services to create and maintain enhancements to the Enterprise Logical Data Model and modeling efforts associated with Reporting/ Business Intelligence initiatives based on an Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW), CDW, or ECDW.
• Data Analysis/profiling, reverse engineering of data, obtain business meaning of data attributes.

Data Modeling

·         Working with EA-Data & Information Architecture team to create Enterprise Logical Data Model in alignment to modified logical models, with emphasis to abstracted enterprise level view and normalized logical data model (detailed).

·         Logical data modeling and metadata collection will be captured in ER/Studio Data Architect in the form of Entity Relationship Diagrams (ERD)Functional Use Cases

·         Understand and create High-Level Technical Requirements

Experience

• 5+ years of experience creating detailed Logical Data Models
• Must have worked with ER/Studio or ERwin data modeling tool
• Well versed with "Enterprise Data Warehouse"
• Experience with ER/Studio Data Architect or Erwin is desired
• Ability to write simple SQL code for database platforms and ETL platforms are desirable
• Experience modeling for Data Warehouse and understanding of Data Warehouse architectures is desirable
• Work experience with Teradata environment and Dimensional Modeling are plus
• Understanding of the overall Software Development Life Cycle and different development methodologies
• Strong analytical skills in depth experience in the analysis process that underlies creation of a Logical Data Model
• Determining the meaning of data through the analytical process
