Hi Ryan,
That's awesome. I'll get back to you in a couple of weeks. I think a lot of people both in India and outside would need to come together in various ways to make it happen.

Hi Ujjwal,

Good luck with the initiative! I've been involved with co-founding 3 biohacker/biolabs (Counter Culture Labs, Berkeley Biolabs and Indie Bio SF) and always happy to help with advice.

The Genspace team have put together some great resources to help you get an open lab up and running and creating a social media and website presence and meetup will help you gain critical mass.

With biohacker spaces, community usually comes first, building in regular meetups (like once every two weeks) to find like minded people, then once you get a critical mass of between 5-20 people you can move forward with finding a shared space to build a biolab (LA biolabs (LAblaunch), Denver Biolabs and UK biolabs are all in different stages of this process) and new labs are launching on a regular basis.

Onwards and upwards!
Ryan

I'm going to add a lot of people here whom I met at the Synthetic Biology track at the MIT Media Labs workshop. We're planning to start a hackrrspace in India. Will keep you guys updated on the progress. We need to know about more people in this area for the space to be viable.
