Or what if you get virusses onto your eye. HSV in the eye can be really bad.

You might dissolve the substance in listerine, which should kill bugs and was shown to deactivate virusses. Though I doubt there has been experiencecon listerin in eyes.
Maybe ethanol + zink ions (also deactivates some virusses)
