Here's 2 articles that I looked into a few years back when my lab was dealing with contamination. As I recall, we had qPCR experiments with unexpected positives. I believe I also got positives in purification column controls. I forget how it got resolved but I'm not surprised you get contamination during the manufacturing process.

Tl,dr; silica columns contaminated with virus, causes false positive.  Pretty interesting, thought you all would enjoy it if you have not seen it.
