I ran into some issues trying to grow this stuff with Jacob Shiach half a decade ago. We doctored a soluble nutrient mix from miracle grow, but it had some unlisted algaecide ingredients that sabotaged the project. I will note that Spirulina is the wrong genus, it's Arthrospira that has the cyanobacteria you want to eat. I think the A. Platensis and A. Maxima live cultures were ordered from Carolina biotech, but home algae growth has gotten trendy enough that there's cheaper sources all over google.
