[DIYbio] Re: Article: The Feds Are Officially Cracking Down on Basement Biohackers

the headline is clickbait

FDA is not against diybio movement, is against the use of crispr-kits to made a home-made gene therapy, which is another discussion.
Knowing a little bit about drug development history or miracle-drugs, this decision seems reasonable.

As geesaman, discussion can be interesting.

Should FDA allow some people to test it? Which sould be the requirements (beyond "only use on rare diseases")?
How to avoid snake oil as it happens with some cancer patients (hi jobs!!!)?

Seems to instigated by DIY gene therapy, but could make for an interesting discussion.
