if you can easily isolate the protein, maybe you can engineer an
affinity tag onto the protein (though this could change natural
transcription levels), you can probably detect binding via electron
microscopy or Raman spectroscopy... if you can't do that (or don't
want to), maybe you could try in vitro enzyme kinetics with an
analogue chemical
