Hi everyone,
I am planning to construct my own gel box and transilluminator - so I can save some money for other expenses! I realize theres a few kits out there but I feel that I can put one together for a little bit cheaper. I was wondering if the files for the Open Gelbox 2.0 were available - I have tried searching to no avail. Ideally I would like to combine the transilluminator with the gel box - e.g. making the bottom/sides of the box out of 2424 blue and the top out of 2424 orange (I believe that this has been validated to be a good filter for SYBR safe).
So I guess my major questions are:
1) Design files avaliable?
2) Good online laser cutting service (that has the 2424 orange and blue. I dont have much experience with ordering laser cut parts so any knowledge would be great.)
3) Blue LED matrix - at one point I found a link to this but now I seem to have lost it. Are blue LED's OK? I was thinking http://www.adafruit.com/products/493 as this will be super easy to power/control with arduino.
Anyways, thanks in advance for your help guys. Excited about getting more into DIYbio stuff.
