Job Title: Java Developer

Job Purpose
The Web Developer's primary job function includes the creation, maintenance and development of both static and dynamic web pages, the design, build, or maintenance of web sites, using web development languages, content creation tools, management tools, and digital media, as well as the design, edit, and maintain web page content, and work with others producing content.
Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities
Ø Analyzes user needs and existing solutions to determine technical requirements.
Ø Confers with management and development teams to prioritize needs, resolve conflicts, develop content criteria, and choose solutions.
Ø Constructs graphical user interfaces that effectively translate and communicate both identity and function.
Ø Troubleshoots, researches, identifies and corrects problems uncovered by testing or customer feedback.
Ø Evaluates code to ensure that it is valid, properly structured, meets company standards and is compatible with approved browsers, devices, and operating systems.
Ø Manages content, project work, and migrates files using a CMS.
Ø Provides training and support of both local and remote content contributors.
Ø Develops or validates test routines and schedules to ensure that test cases mimic external interfaces and address all browser and device types.
Ø Maintains understanding of current web technologies and programming practices through continuing education, reading, or participation in professional conferences, workshops, or groups.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
o Strong understanding of and ability to work with dynamic data structures (JSON, XML, Web Services, etc.).
o Conceptual understanding of server-side languages, such as Java Server Page (JSP) technology, and the ability to make changes to the front-end logic without impacting the server-side logic.
Ø Ability to hand-code in web pages while strictly adhering to current W3C specifications/recommendations (no generation of code).
Ø Basic scripting knowledge (JavaScript and/or JavaScript libraries).
Ø Thorough understanding of HTML and CSS technologies.
Ø Ability to produce quality, pixel-perfect, hand-coded Web pages from mockups and wireframe documents.
Ø Strong knowledge of web navigation and web usability principles.
Ø Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ø Ability to work with common Office formats & tools (Word, PDF, Excel, PhotoShop, etc.).
