Role: QA Tester
Location: NY
SCOPE OF SERVICES:
QA Tester will have the following responsibilities
- Prepare and execute functional and regression testing
- Participate in performance testing
- Work with project management team, technical team and business unit in the requirements gathering process to determine high level designs
- Ensure that assigned applications are appropriately quality assurance tested
- Communicate and interact with different project teams
- Attend project’s team meetings and some design meetings
- Review design project documents and provide QA comments and sign off
- Define test strategy based on the analysis of design document and requirements
- Create and execute test cases, log and assign defects and keep track of the defect status
- Load and maintain requirements and test cases in Quality Center
- Execute and track testing process using Quality Center
- Work with developers to resolve defects
- Report the results to the management and team lead in timely matter
- Prepare and execute functional testing activities for the application
- Participate in defining strategy for the regression test automation
- Participate in the defining performance test entry/exit criteria
- Participate in designing performance test scripts using LoadRunner
- Assist the support team in deployment
- Other QA related tasks in the SDLC
- Maintain up to date documentation in project’s SharePoint folders
- Create and/or contribute in the design of the following deliverables:
- Test Strategy & test plan
- Detailed Test Cases
- Test Scripts
- Traceability matrix
- Test estimates
- Progress report for test execution
- Defect report
MANDATORY SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
- At least 4 years of experience in Quality Assurance testing
- Strong verbal skills to communicate with non-technical resources.
- Strong issue resolution and investigation skills
- Ability to articulate and document the steps taken to resolve an issue
- Ability to see tasks through to completion with minimal guidance
- Experience in performing end-to-end test process for complex enterprise solutions
- Experience in analyzing business requirements and covering them with test cases
- Experience with specifics of functional and compatibility testing of browser based UI
- Understanding of the concept of browser / HTML based UI and the need of compatibility testing
- Understanding of a variety of programming languages, architectures, and standards like, J2EE-Java, .NET, n-tier architecture, service oriented architecture (SOA)
- Understanding of relational databases concept, ability to design SQL query
- Ability to use SQL queries for QA tasks
- Ability to create and execute SQL queries in any of the popular GUI tools like TOAD, sqldeveloper, etc.
DESIRABLE SKILLS/EXPERIENCE :
· Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Engineering or Mathematics
· Understanding of HTML language
· Understanding of XML language concept and XML file format
· Experience with writing scripts to create and manipulate test data using any of the popular scripting languages like VBScript, VBA (Excel or MS Access), JavaScript, Perl, Python, Ruby, Groovy, C/C++, etc
· Experience with test automation concepts and tools like QTP, RFT, Selenium
· Experience with recording/designing/executing automated scrip using QTP
· Understanding of ORACLE database system architecture and specifics
· Experience with recording, adjusting and troubleshooting performance test scripts using LoadRunner scripting correlation techniques
· Knowledge of NYC Government culture
