Location: Irvine, CA

Term: 6months - 1year

Interview Mode: Phone or F2F

EXCELLENT COMMUNICATION SKILLS IS REQUIRED FROM CANDIDATE.  PLEASE DONT PRESENT CANDIDATES WITH QUESTIONABLE COMMUNICATION SKILLS.   

Note:  candidate must be well verse on the Informatica specific testing side?  It’s necessary to know how to navigate Informatica to not only run the jobs but also look at the SQL and review the errors and walk through every piece of code to test it for quality before doing the data qa testing outside of Informatica.  This is required because of the agile nature of the client and that they are testing user stories and have no requirements or specs. 

Description

Position Title:              Quality Assurance Engineer or LEAD (EDW)  

Functional Unit:           Technology and Data Intelligence

Position Summary: Working in a team environment, contributes to quality releases of company data and products. This position requires continuous involvement and participation with development teams to design, build, and test software products and data validation. Review, verify and validate requirements, designs and functionality of software. Creates automated test scripts and contributes to the automation library. Coordinates and tracks test activities.

 Position responsibilities:

• Review, verify and validate requirements, designs the data validation test suite.
• Design, implementation and documentation of test cases and addition of these test cases to the automated test scenarios.
• Design, develop, implement, and maintain Automation Testing Framework for data validation.
• Define, review and implement data validation improvement processes across the Enterprise Data Warehouse Organization.
• Develop, execute and maintain test plans for the company product releases.
• Design, develop and maintain/enhance the QA automation scripts.
• Track and report on test status for project.
• Defect prevention through early involvement with project teams.
• Defect reporting and tracking.
• Work with Junior QA Analysts and Engineers to mentor them in the area of testing best practices and methodologies.
• Identify and execute the manual test coverage.
• Act as test coordinator and lead for selected projects.
• May work on multiple projects at a time.
• May require overtime or off-peak hours to meet commitments.

• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Essential skills, knowledge and abilities:

• Must have a minimum of 4-6 years of experience testing data warehouse components and data applications
• Strong command on data validation and automation concepts
• Strong command on data warehouse/ETL testing
• Must have a strong experience with SQL and related functions.
• Experience in Informatica mapping testing and validation
• Good understanding of MicroStrategy or similar reporting tool
• Experience in data validation tools is a plus.
• Strong experience with QA processes and methodologies required; automated and manual test processes, black box, white box and gray box testing, test cases design, scripting, execution, and automated test tools.
• Must be familiar with the Software Development Lifecycle.
• Must be a self-starter who can work independently without direct supervision.

• Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or four to six years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Utilize complex computer operations (intermediate programming in 3rd and 4th generation languages, relational databases, and operating systems) and advanced features of software packages (word-processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.).

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

• Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

• Ability to define problems, collects data, establishes facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

• Programming background preferred.
• Experience with Agile/Scrum Development Methodologies are plus.
• Hands-on experience with ETL or other data-intensive applications and frameworks are plus.
