Our client, a premier Federal Healthcare Provider in SW Washington, DC has an immediate job opportunity for a DB2 Database Administrator (DB2 DBA) with realistic, hands-on practical, real world database administration experience. This is a long term contract engagement with the possibility of conversion and/or multiple contract extensions.
**Day to Day Responsibilities include**
• Provide day-to-day database support for the CCTI/CCP data warehouse environment
• Provide support for data replication between production site and disaster recovery site
• Provide support for performance testing the CAE and CCP applications
• Assist with troubleshooting of system and application performance related issues and recommend fixes
• Other duties as assigned
• Work off-hours and weekends, when necessary with remote access
Environment: DB2 ver. 9.7, 60TB, LUW on AIX, Smart Analytics, 32 Database partitions, CCTI/CCP data Warehouse, Cognos, WebSphere application server, Q-Replication, HTTP Server, MQSeries, TSM (Tivoli Storage Manager)
The selected DB2 DBA will be joining our client's team to augment the staff during an Infrastructure Systems upgrade. The primary role is to relieve existing staff from day to day administration so they can concentrate on the systems upgrade.
Required Skills
• Realistic, practical, real world database administration skills/experience
• 3 years' + experience hands-on DB2 UDB Database Administrator (DBA)
• 3 years' + Supporting DB2 in an AIX environment
• 3 years' + experience hands-on SQL Code review
• Critical skills is experience in a Data Partition Facility (DPF) environment
• AIX Command Line Processing and basic UNIX Scripting
• One or more of the following should be noted from a DBA perspective:
(1) Websphere Application Sever
(2) Q-Replication
(3) HTTP Server, MQSeries and Cognos
• Performance Monitoring
o Client Application Enabler (CAE)
o Collect CPU parallelism (CCP)
o Cognos Business Intelligence tool
**Professional Attributes**
o Ability to work off-hours and weekends, when necessary
o Comfortable working under Project Manager supervision
o Comfortable receiving instructions from lead DBA and then working independently
o Individual Contributor
