I'm very Interested in doing some genetic modification as a hobby. Looking around it seems academic scientists are making a lot of strides, but diy home biohackers there's only been a few People out there hitting headlines. Is there some part of the process that has people turned away and discouraged? Is it hard for the average joe at home to order plasmids or other necessary bits? Is that minION usb viable for sequencing DNA at home?
