[DIYbio] 1 Week to Application Deadline for IndieBio EU

Hey folks,

March 14th is our deadline to apply to IndieBio EU 2016, and we've already got a fun bunch of applications from mushroomery to monoclonals to energy to neuro to bioinformatics. Exciting stuff, really looking forward to picking our teams this year!

As always we love DIYbio applicants; right culture and attitude, for starters, and lots of our successful founders in IndieBio EU 2014/2015 were DIYbioers and/or iGEMmers prior to the programme. More were DIYbioers after enduring a Summer with me, of course... ;)

We can accept applicants from basically anywhere, and we can secure visas for applicants outside the EU area if necessary.

A reminder: IndieBio EU is the original synbio-focused accelerator programme, offering $50,000-$75,000* in seed funding, three months' time in a fully equipped lab, mentors from around the world and diverse professional backgrounds, and a network of partners, past founders, and potential clients or suppliers to kick-start your biotech. The total programme value is $100,000 for 8% equity, and we accept applications from as early as "I've just had this crazy idea!". Indeed, several of our successful prior teams started out as raw ideas, and are now making it real.

The parent VC, SOSV, is the same who funded me to do garage biohacking for two years prior to the first IndieBio (then SynbioAxlr8r), so I can vouch for their friendly nature, too.

Applications begin this year with a 140-character description of your company or product, and progress then to a fuller application with or without guidance from our team. Your ideas are always yours and applications are always confidential. Our investment documents are, at last count, three pages of clear English (our CFO is proud of this clarity), and encompass pretty much the "three VC rights" one expects of any investment deal.
